Walmart completes the Vibe.co acquisition — and gets its CTV on-ramp
Walmart closed its acquisition of Vibe.co on August 4 — reported by the Wall Street Journal at $1.4 billion — bringing a self-serve connected-TV platform built for small and mid-market advertisers inside Walmart Connect, where it will pair with Walmart's commerce audiences and closed-loop measurement for planning, buying, and measuring streaming campaigns.
The read: this deal is about the long tail. Amazon built the biggest ads business in retail on self-serve SMB demand; Vibe gives Walmart that same motion for television. The next fight is whose measurement gets to define what a streaming ad is worth.
